monotypes

a series of monotypes made using make-up & performative mark-making

This work was made during I time when I was questioning my gender identity and my relationship with femininity. Mixing expired foundation, lipstick, eyeshadow, and bronzer with printmaking mediums, I created my own inks, and then used my body - my hands, my forearms, my face, my legs - to create marks on the printing matrix. To me, this work was about finding new ways to connect to my body, new ways of envisioning printmaking, and, ultimately, queering the processes around me to create an art form and future which could contain my identity.
